Melissa Wilhite Carreon (affectionately called Mel Dub by many) passed away on December 24, 2018 - Christmas Eve morning- her 40th birthday.
In February of 2012, Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. With a 2-year old son and loving husband at home, she chose an aggressive approach in her fight against cancer.

The following 5-years had many ups & downs, but the high of “beating” the initial diagnosis was followed by devastating news in May of 2017. Melissa had metastatic breast cancer. Once again she fought hard and did all she could, enduring painful treatments with exhausting side effects but ultimately heartbreaking results.
During this incredibly trying time, the love and support from the two Omars in her life never once wavered. They made sure she was taken care of, comfortable, provided for, and was checking off experiences on her bucket list! Now it is time for us to take care of them.

It is my hope that Omar can use any funds donated where they are needed most. Whether it be to help prepare for her Celebration of Life, a college fund for little Omar, household bills left in limbo since Melissa was not able to work the last year or to check off items on their own bucket list. They will need to continue making memories and living life to the fullest like Mel Dub did!!

Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. For those who do not know me, my name is Julie Ann and I have known Melissa & Omar since college. Melissa and I were sorority sisters and in each other’s weddings. Many people are asking what they can do to help and her friends & I thought having this central place would be the best way. I wanted you to have a little background due to all the scams these days.
