Saxton Bampfylde's charity walk in memory of Kat Mason for MediCinema and the Hospice of St Francis

Earlier this year, we lost our beloved Kat Mason, a dear colleague, and former Head of our Social Impact Practice. Kat joined us at Saxton Bampfylde back in early 2022, bringing years of experience in the charity sector, including seven years as Chief Executive of MediCinema, the national health and arts charity. Having been an exemplar of how high-quality leadership can develop and then accelerate the capacity of charities to meet their mission and grow their impact, she joined us to bring that understanding to help other organisations find the leaders who would bring this capability to them.

Kat was an exceptional colleague who always went above and beyond for her clients and colleagues. She made a lasting impact on everyone she worked with, both inside and outside the firm. She was the embodiment of our values and ethos as a generous, kind, positive and optimistic person, bringing endless energy to the causes and work that were important to her.

Kat’s leadership, warmth, and dedication have left an indelible mark on us at Saxton Bampfylde and on the wider social impact community.

To honour her memory, a team of SaxBam colleagues will be conducting a charity fundraising walk via St Paul's Cathedral to our former stomping ground of Covent Garden, to fundraise for two causes close to Kat's heart - MediCinema and the Hospice of St Francis.

About MediCinema: MediCinema is a unique charity operating at the heart of 7 NHS hospitals, offering therapeutic cinema experiences to improve the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of patients and their loved ones. Being in hospital can be challenging, frightening and often isolating for people who are already feeling vulnerable. These specifically designed cinemas accommodate hospital beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment, making screenings accessible and inclusive for all patients. Leaving the wards to experience a film screening in one of their cinemas makes a positive and lasting impact, giving patients – and families - the strength to cope.

About the Hospice of St Francis: For over 45 years, the Hospice has provided free, compassionate care to thousands of local people and their families in the communities of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, supporting them through serious illness and helping them to live their precious lives well. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and expert care, regardless of age, background, or circumstance, the hospice’s work is made possible by the generosity of the local community, which raises over £6 million each year to fund this vital service. The Hospice of St Francis is a shining example of what a community can achieve when it comes together to care for its most vulnerable members. Its impact is felt not only in the lives of those it supports directly, but in the wider community, where it inspires hope, inclusion, and lasting change.

Whether you are able to walk alongside us on the day, or support us from afar, we would be deeply grateful if you would consider making a donation in Kat’s memory.

The money raised will be matched by the Saxton Bampfylde Charity Committee and shared between MediCinema and the Hospice of St Francis – two causes that reflect Kat’s passion, values, and memory. In doing so, we hope to not only honour memory but to continue the work she cared about so deeply.

Thank you.
