Medical Service Trip to Intibuca, Honduras
Donation protected
I am excited to announce that my residency, St. Mark's Family Medicine Residency of SLC, Utah, is sponsoring a medical service trip to a rural, underserved community in Southwestern Honduras this year with the help of a small non profit, Shoulder to Shoulder. We have a team of 6 providers including 4 residents and 2 faculty physicians, who all will be traveling to San Antonia, Intibuca for 8 days in April 2019 for this service trip. While there, we will be setting up a sustainable, mobile medical clinic to provide free primary and preventative medical care, hopefully to well over 500 patients. We will be bringing a significant amount of medical supplies with us and will be purchasing medication once we arrive in the country to help us care for as many patients as possible. Additionally, we hope to provide training and medications to the local health care providers to help them better care for their people once we leave. We hope to make this an annual or biannual trip with our residency, in an attempt to create a sustainable healthcare solution for these underserved populations.
In order to make the most out of this experience, my fellow resident and faculty would like to ask for your financial help to make this possible. As you can imagine, getting a group of 6 medical providers to Central America for 8 days adds up in cost very quickly. Additionally we plan to purchase several thousand dollars worth of medications and medical supplies once we arrive in the country (which has the added benefit of helping the local economy) , in addition to any donations we are able to bring with us from the states. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated and will be put to good use to care for those in need in Honduras.
Thank you so much for your support and stay tuned for pictures in April!!!
Sincerely,
Alec Kitch, Brent Shepherd, Jessica Wilkinson, Brian Johnson, John Dame, Karl Kirby and the rest of the Kirby Family.
