Bringing Healing & Hope to Guatemala
Hi! I’m Chyna Maschak, a Registered Nurse with four years of experience, currently working in critical care at Kaiser Permanente. This upcoming trip will be my very first medical mission—something I’ve felt deeply called to do for as long as I can remember. The opportunity to serve others in such a direct, hands-on way means the world to me. It’s not just a trip—it’s the beginning of a lifelong dream to use my skills beyond the hospital walls and bring care to communities who need it most. I’ll be teaming up with my amazing friend and former coworker, Samantha Guridys. We met while working at Kaiser and quickly connected over our shared passion for service and giving back. We’re not only incredibly excited for this life-changing experience, but truly inspired to pour our hearts into every moment—doing what we love, serving with compassion, and making a meaningful impact wherever we go.
Hi everyone! I’m Sam, a Registered Nurse in the ICU with a little over 6 years of experience as an RN. This is also my first medical mission trip in my career, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be utilizing my experience and education as an RN to help nurses with a purpose service in this community. I am lucky enough to do this with another amazing and compassionate nurse, who I also get to call a friend, Chyna. We share the same sentiment that our purpose as healthcare providers extends beyond our work. We believe that our impact can help improve the lives of all our patients, especially those in underserved communities and impoverished countries. Our goal remains the same across borders. That through education, hard work, and a lot of love and compassion, we can touch the lives of the people who need us the most! Thank you so much for any and all donations or shares of our link! This September, we'll be joining a medical mission trip to Guatemala with Nurses with Purpose, focusing on serving a community that is deeply in need. Our team will provide primary healthcare, basic first aid, and healthcare education, as well as support to a local orphanage that's home to some incredible children.
We're raising funds to purchase:
For the Clinic:
- Vital medical tools: safety lancets, glucometers with test strips, automatic BP cuffs, thermometers
- Basic protective gear: gloves (all sizes), masks
- Medications & treatments: antifungals, Monistat, ibuprofen, Tylenol, oral analgesics, children's meds
- Testing kits: pregnancy, COVID-19, HIV
- Wellness items: Vicks, muscle rub, eye drops, nasal spray, laxatives, electrolyte powders
- First aid & wound care: gauze, dressing supplies (especially for burn victims), iodine, saline, ointments
- Other essentials: condoms, medication cups, reading glasses, pain patches, creams for skin conditions, and more
For the Orphanage:
- Personal care: toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant, feminine products, nail clippers, hair products
- Clothing items: undergarments, socks, baseball hats, earrings
- Fun & development: toys, jump ropes, playing cards, candy, headphones
- Educational supplies: coloring books, crayons, pencils, paper, paperback books
- Hair care: brushes, combs, moisturizers, bonnets, braiding hair, wave caps
Every dollar goes directly toward these efforts — not a cent will be spent on overhead or personal costs. Even $10 can provide life-changing resources.
