Hi, my name is Cynthia & I am Alyssa's Godmother. Our beautiful girl has been fighting a battle that not many know about. On December 18, 2021, after months of agonizing pain that kept her up most nights, multiple doctors, specialists, biopsies, scans and MRIs, one of our worst fears as a parent became a reality. Our Alyssa was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
At first, doctors thought she had just pulled a muscle; then, they thought it was the anatomy of her hip bones causing the pain, so she began physical therapy. At the time, Alyssa was living in Austin, so she was commuting for her appointments while attending UT and dealing with her symptoms the best she could. It was not until they took a trip in late October that her mom saw how much pain she was in and could hardly walk. After that, Pamela demanded an MRI be scheduled. Her parents will never forget the day they were first told what the MRI had revealed. They were devastated, to say the least, and they knew their lives were about to change. Her mom kept it private because she knew she had to protect Alyssa from feeling overwhelmed with what life was about to be for her. Our faith in God has helped us come to terms with it, so we have taken this battle together as a family. With cancer, WE have realized that you genuinely need a whole army of support, love and prayer to get through it.
In addition to the emotional rollercoaster this journey has brought comes the financial strain. I humbly ask for your much-appreciated donation to help fund Alyssa's recovery and medical expenses. But, most of all, we ask that you please pray for our baby girl.
