Medical costs for family in bus accident

On December 8th my niece and nephew were involved in a terrible bus accident in the Philippines that has left several members of my niece's family critically  injured. They had gone to a resort/amusement park with all her family and had rented a 16 passenger van. On the ride back the bus couldn't make it up a steep hill so the driver asked that 4 adults step outside while he tried to go up the hill with the remaining passengers.  I'm not sure how, but the bus ended up going off a steep embankment. The van was full of parents, aunts, uncles and their children. The adults shielded the children so thankfully none of the children were injured but one of the aunts died at the scene.  My niece's mother sustained a head injury and some broken bones and required CPR on scene, she is in stable condition currently. Her one brother broke his leg and the other injured his back. Her sisters both broke bones but  they are also in stable condition. My nephew broke his wrist but will be able to receive surgery on his return to Canada.

The reason I started this Go Fund Me is my niece's sister in law suffered a spinal cord injury and she needs a surgery. She is only 24 years old and is currently paralyzed from the waist down. They only have limited health care coverage and this surgery will cost 8-10 thousand US dollars. The driver of the bus was arrested for reckless driving. As far we have been told the bus was not insured and they are trying to seek compensation from the bus company but they aren't likely to get anything. The family is looking at selling all that they own to cover all the medical costs and the cost of this surgery. They will be bankrupted by this tragedy.
