Ghana Medical Brigades 2024
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Maia, I’m a 3rd year medical student at King’s College London. This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to volunteer for 7 days on a medical brigade in Ghana with Global Medical Brigades, an international nonprofit dedicated to providing support to communities to better the country’s overall health and economic aspirations. The healthcare situation in rural Ghana is dire, with only 0.096 doctors per 1,000 people and 83% of the rural population lacking access to even basic, safe sanitation facilities. During my time volunteering, I'll be involved in triaging patients, assisting in consultations and treatment, distributing essential medications, and even visiting rural patients unable to reach the clinic. It's a profound honor to support communities that lack universal access to healthcare. However, to make this mission possible, I need to raise funds for the charity and cover the costs of transportation to Ghana. Your donation, no matter the amount, would be immensely appreciated, helping us continue Global Brigades' vital work in delivering healthcare to those in need. Thank you for considering supporting this meaningful cause.
