Medical and Surgical Mission Trip to Dominican Rep

Hi, my name is Michelle Diaz. I am representing the Guardians Of Healing medical mission group. We have an upcoming trip to Hato Mayor in Dominican Republic on 5/20/2023. This trip was not planned until recently as the town has reached out to our president, Damary Collado, asking us to organize a mission. We usually do our fundraising through large events such as fashion shows, and dinners, however due to Covid all of our events had been suspended. We thought we weren't going to do any other missions after Covid19 hit but when we were approached we just could not say no.

The mission group is compiled of volunteers who volunteer their time and money to pay their own travel and lodging expenses. However, the mission needs help. This GoFundMe is to help buy medications, supplies, and cover the shipping costs of all the equipment and supplies that are sent from the US.

During these missions, medical doctors, dentists, PAs, and NPs diagnose and provide treatment (surgery, medicine, tooth extractions, etc.) to the local community who need assistance at absolutely no cost to the patient. We typically do 70-90 surgical procedures and see close to 1000 patients in a week.

Occasionally we encounter patients that may need more assistance that we are unable to provide in a 1 week clinic and the group has covered some of these costs to come to the US for follow up treatment, additional surgeries, or providing tube feeding and so on.
