Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story!!!
Many who will read this already know our story, but for those who don't know it has been a difficult, but rewarding year. We have decided to humble ourselves, for the benefit of our granddaughter Bexleigh, and share this story, and ask for help and support of any amount. Asking for help is incredibly difficult for us, but her needs trump our egos at this point.
We have been engaged in a custody battle since September of last year. This has been devastating emotionally and financially on our family. We have legal custody of her, but her parents have appealed the decision. While they may be able to appeal for free, we do not have that luxury. What that means is another expensive and lengthy court battle. We are confident we will be successful against this appeal, but HAVE to have legal representation to do so.
This post will not be an avenue to bash or disrespect either parent, and we are hopeful that at some point in the future they will get the help they need and be able to be full time parents again, but it is imperative that she stays with us to maintain her safety and medical progress made in her congenital clubfoot condition. Following up on her prescribed treatment to prevent a permanent disability is crucial.
Also, Bexleigh's medical insurance here in Arizona was recently canceled due to fraud (someone using her information to claim benefits in Washington State) which has created some unexpected medical bills. Thankfully, her insurance has recently been reinstated.
We have reached our limit financially, after a year of legal fees and medical bills. Anything will help, and time is of the essence.
Again thank you for reading.
