My name is Kelsey Lopez, and I am writing this on behalf of my brother, Trevor. On June 24, 2022, Trevor woke up like any other day. Shortly after his day started, he started feeling much different. His whole body locked up, and he couldn't move because of his excruciating pain. Trevor was in Colorado to see his best friends get married. Luckily, they got married the first day because he was bedwritten the rest of the trip. He assumed he would get better with time, but it was soon figured out that this wasn't any ordinary sickness.
Trevor went to the Denver emergency room where they could not figure out what was wrong with him. Afterwards, they packed up to come back home. Trevor felt terrible pain the whole flight home, could not stop throwing up, and at one point had a seizure. When they landed in Las Vegas for their layover his friends were told they had to take the next flight while Trevor was transported by ambulance (with his fiance by his side) to the nearest hopital. There they ran many tests, gave him a steroid, and took a cat scan to give his neurologist when he got back to Ohio. Trevor and Melissa went back to the airport to get on the next flight home. He had already been taken off one plane because of how sick he was and after he went back this happened TWO more times. Everytime Trevor wasn't laying flat on the ground he was in such horrible pain he would scream and cry and throw up in pain. Finally, after two days on a Las Vegas airport floor he was ok enough to get back home. The morning after coming home, they drove to Cleveland to go see Trevor's neurologist.
Trevor was born with a brain injury called, hydrocephalus. This condition causes fluid build up on the brain. He has had two brain surgeries in his adult life. A shunt was put in his brain in 2013 to stop the fluid build up, and in 2017 the shunt needed replaced because it failed. In the last few weeks, there have been serious brain issues that the doctors cannot seem to figure out.
Trevor assumed that Fairview hospital could help, but after many tests and a hospital stay no questions were answered. He made an appointment to see his neurologist and the pain took over so bad that he had to go see her two weeks early. She found his shunt was in place, but she advised him to go to the emergency room once again. This time at Celeveland Clinic Main Campus (HIS FOURTH HOSPTAL), they again, decided to keep him overnight. They took an MRI the next morning, regulated his meds, and told him he needed two weeks bed rest.
Trevor is in severe pain and cannot stand for longer than five minutes because of the pressure it causes. He is an indepedent contractor and has had to take a step back for the time being. The medical bills are piling up and all he wants are answers and to be able to function normally.
He needs our help! Trevor and Melissa have the two best little boys at home and will do anything to make sure they don't notice the sacrifices they are making during these trying times. If you could spare anything, no amount is too small. He is trying to recuperate and doesn't need this added stress. Thank you for reading and thank you all for your help.
Much love and appreciation.
