This year the Ventia, SRAP contract has chosen to support the Mama Lana’s Community Foundation. Ventia provides road maintenance, asset management services and minor civil work to an area of western Sydney covering seven local government areas including the Blue Mountains, which is a World Heritage Listed area. The major roads are the Great Western Highway, Bells Line of Road and Darling Causeway. This footprint covers approximately 5,400 square kilometres of land.
Mama Lana’s Community Foundation (MLCF) is a grassroots charity in Penrith, founded by Roger and Lana Borg, who were inspired to help their community after the devastating Blue Mountains bushfires in 2013. Since then, MLCF has grown into a lifeline for the homeless and underprivileged, providing hot meals six nights a week, crisis food hampers, clothing, and essential support to those in need—all with kindness and no strings attached.
Why Your Support Matters
MLCF is run entirely by volunteers, with no government funding or paid staff. Every dollar raised goes directly to feeding and supporting those in need.
• Meals: Serving 35-85 patrons per night, MLCF provides free hot meals, drinks, and desserts to people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. Meal costs range from $3 to $10 per serve.
• Crisis Hampers: Families at risk receive food hampers valued at $50-$100, depending on donations.
• Essential Items: Clothing, blankets, and toiletries are provided to help patrons through tough times.
• Support Services: MLCF also helps patrons connect with housing, employment, and welfare services to improve their long-term prospects.
MLCF operates every single night of the year without a break, ensuring consistent support for the community. However, this vital work relies entirely on donations to cover the increasing demand.
How Your Donation Helps
• $30 feeds one person for a week.
• $100 provides a crisis hamper for a struggling family.
• Larger contributions help MLCF expand their services, including reaching more remote areas with additional food vans.
By donating, you’re helping MLCF continue their mission of compassion and dignity, ensuring no one in the Penrith community
