It has been incredible to witness the outpour of support the community of San Diego has provided our frontline workers, including hospital staff, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Right now, many participating restaurants are supporting workers by preparing meals and allowing them to pick up free meals from their locations.
Unfortunately many staff who are working cannot physically leave their shifts to get their free meals.

We are Homeless HEAL : Health and Empowerment Across Learning (a UC San Diego student run organization established in 2016) and we want to help support UC San Diego Health caregivers by purchasing meals from local restaurants. We will safely pick up and drop off meals at participating UC San Diego Health locations. Besides GoFundMe’s transaction fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 per donation, we will be using the entirety of the funds towards this cause.
As future health professionals, we value the importance of collaboration within the community during these difficult times, and we hope that by purchasing meals from local restaurants we can help offset the financial hardship these businesses might be facing, while at the same time supporting local UC San Diego Health staff as they work by providing delicious, free meals at their work sites.

We understand that many of you may be facing your own unique battles during the Covid-19 crisis and you may be unable to make a monetary donation at this time, and that’s OKAY! To support our efforts in a different way, we ask that you instead share this on your social media platforms and forward our GoFundMe link to your friends and family so that others may donate and share as well!
The members of Homeless HEAL would like to thank you in advance for all of your support, any act of kindness big or small can truly make a difference in the lives of others. And thank you to ALL the workers who are on the frontline!
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” – Dr. Seuss
