Julinna is a standout person, mom, friend, professor, philosopher, and community leader. And you can't imagine anyone doing any of it so dazzlingly well. She was diagnosed with metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer in October of 2021 and is about to receive radiation for a resulting brain tumor.

She will be fatigued from this treatment, and one thing that would be helpful would be if we could provide some delivered meals to her and her daughters. This way they can avoid cooking prep and clean-up and focus what else needs doing. If we raise enough, we can fund Door Dash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or Spoonful of Comfort, etc., as needed. Please help as you can and please share if you can’t. She is a major influence on those of us in philosophy and an inspiration to countless of us merely lucky enough to be in her various communities.

When she was diagnosed with breast cancer it was “de novo”, meaning there had been no earlier diagnosis in annual mammograms. At the time of diagnosis, it was detected in her spine, ribs, skull, and lungs.

When people have metastatic disease (the medical name for stage 4 cancer) the goal is to keep the cancer in check and at bay using cancer medications. It is considered “too late” for it to be cured - but it is treatable. You want to be left on one medication as long as possible, as that then leaves time for other ones to be used later. But Julinna’s cancer is aggressive, and she is already on her 5th medication in 3 years. (The first one she was prescribed was expected to last 3 years, but it only lasted 10 months.)

She’s been on a low-dose chemo since last January, and that seemed to be working until this tumor next to her brain was discovered (a large one, 3cm x 4cm).

Losing her and all that she does for others is unthinkable and thank you for any help you can offer.
