Help us grow in 2025: More clothes to more queers

What we do
The TIN Wardrobe is a grassroots charity that works to supply gender affirming clothing free of charge to the transgender, intersex and nonbinary community across the UK. Our goal is to free gender expression for all.
With the cost of living crisis and financial discrimination, clothing is a luxury than many queer people can't prioritise. According to research by TransActual UK :
- 6 in 10 TIN people experience transphobia while seeking employment
- 4 in 10 TIN people experience housing discrimination.
- 7 in 10 TIN people experience transphobia when trying to access good and services.
This means that TIN people often feel trapped by their budget, and unwelcome in public life. That's where our service can help.
Why we need your help
This year has been difficult for the TIN Wardrobe. We have more clothes than space to put them and not enough volunteers to meet demand.
With the current political climate in the UK and the cost of living crisis continuing indefinitely, our work is more important than ever. After the supreme court ruling social transition and 'passing' is going to become part of our survival. We need your help to expand.
Our plan
With your support we can
- Upgrade our operations: we're currently in a small dark closet in a freezing cold storage facility. Moving location will help us to increase storage, improve our service and increase volunteer vitamin D.
- Recruit new volunteers: Many people are interested in volunteering but we haven't had the space to train new team members and make the most our community's skills.
Your help means more clothes, to more people, in more places than ever before, helping to free gender expression across the UK.
