I have been offered an incredible opportunity to spend a month and a half in Delhi, India to support, encourage, and educate adults with disabilities. There is a preconceived idea against people with disabilities in India, creating a cycle of poverty. LOGOS Transformation (LT) is an organization located in Delhi which trains adults with disabilities in many different skills. They recently started a barista academy which will give the adults skills they need to make coffee. This allows for the cycle to be broken and the disabled to contribute to the household, breaking the preconceived ideas against them.
Through my time as a manager/trainer at Dynamo Coffee Roasting here in Colorado Springs, I have developed the passion and skills to train others in the coffee industry. My love for the art of coffee partnered with my passion for teaching and connecting with people has inspired me to take advantage of this opportunity. My skills in the coffee industry will provide me with the experience to serve the community in India.
Supporting adults with disabilities holds a special place in my heart. With a degree in Elementary Education and hands-on experience working with both children and adults with disabilities, I’ve developed a deep passion for inclusive teaching. During my time in India, I look forward to helping individuals build strong work ethics and introducing them to a variety of job opportunities. I truly believe that the skills and compassion I bring can make a meaningful impact and help transform lives.
Thank you for the support it will help cover the cost of travel and accommodations while I am in India.
