Help me to volunteer abroad and to support others education!

Hi! My name is Summer, I’m currently 16 years old and I’m fundraising for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to volunteer after my a levels in under-resourced communities across Africa and other areas affected by poverty.

I’ve recently applied to a Sixth Form College I’ll be starting at 17 for 2 years. After this period I’ll be taking a gap year, this gap year isn’t about travel for fun—it’s about making a real difference. As someone who’s been in and out of the education system, struggling endlessly and has recently come to terms with my situation I’ve really decided on helping others to see the beauty and opportunities in education. I’ll be working directly with local organizations and communities to support education, children, basic healthcare, and sustainable development projects.

The programs I’m joining are hands-on and grassroots—focused on helping where it’s truly needed, learning from local people, and building cross-cultural connections.

Why I’m Asking for Your Help:

Volunteering abroad has costs like program fees, flights, insurance, vaccinations, and daily essentials. I’m working and saving as much as I can, but I can’t cover it all on my own. That’s why I’m reaching out to friends, family, and anyone who believes in youth-led change and community support.

Here’s a rough breakdown of what your support would help with:

Flights: £2000 - 2500

Program fees: £11,000 - £13,000

Although this seems like a lot, even if I don’t make enough I’ll still continue my dream with shorter volunteering trips in the summer <3
