Cycling and walking 5577 miles to Ecuador!
Donation protected
Hi my name is Evie and I am 14 years old. I am fundraising to go on a month long, once in a lifetime, volunteering expedition to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.
As part of my fundraising I aim to cycle and walk 5577 miles which is the distance from my home to Ecuador. This will require me to complete approximately 15.5 miles per day, averaging over 100 miles per week over the following year. I hope to complete this challenge by May 2024 to allow time for any unforeseen circumstances (including a few rest days). This is a massive challenge which I hope will inspire people to support me to achieve and my fundraising goal.
The experience will allow me to get up close and personal with some incredible wildlife and learn about how to protect our important natural environment. During my time here I will spend time working on environmental projects in the spectacular Amazon rainforest and head off to the Galapagos Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to experience that natural wonderland that inspired Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. I will be taking part in building learning centres, hospital or medical buildings, the education of younger children, building homes for the residents of local people living in these remote locations, help build sanitary areas for families who aren't as fortunate as ourselves, and lastly help build roads for the locals I will be staying with. I intend to leave a lasting positive impact for the people I am helping. Each job is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region’s most critical issues. In this unique opportunity we will be working within tight knit communities learning all about their culture, language and more during my stay.
I can't wait to go on this incredible journey and hope you will support me in my fundraising journey to reach my goal.
