As many of you are aware our little girl was born 8 weeks premature. If it hadn’t been for Hull NICU we wouldn’t be stood here today with our beautiful daughter. From the minute she was born she received the most amazing care, there was a team of specialists waiting for her to be born who managed to get her to take her first breath after one whole minute! She was then rushed straight up onto NICU where she was incubated and put onto breathing equipment. During her stay on NICU she was treated for suspected sepsis, put on a phototherapy light for jaundice and given tests for everything they felt necessary. The amount of time and money that went into making sure our little girl was ok is staggering. Supplying breast pumps, prem nappies, dummies and sometimes just making us a cup of tea. The one on one care she received was second to none. Even down to the time the nurses spent reassuring us as first time parents that things were going to be ok and not to worry about all the beeps. We will be forever grateful to every single person involved in her care.

Now to the reason I’m writing this. I can never repay what they have given us, nothing comes close to what they were able to do. But I feel like it’s my turn to give at least something back. As everyone knows now, I ain’t built like a runner, but I’m getting back in the gym and putting the hours in because I owe them so much. I will be doing the Humber half marathon on the 28th Jun which to me is some challenge. If everyone could be generous and drop a few quid on a sponsor it would be much appreciated. I wanna raise as much as I can to give back to them so they can continue to help all the little babies that need it and keep up with their outstanding level of care.
