McVAN'S HISTORICAL MARKER FUNDRAISER

BUFFALO & WNY's depth of musical talent & history is equal to Muscle Shoals, Liverpool, Memphis, Detroit and other neighborhoods. Driven by the vision of Lillian McVan & Joe Terrose, McVAN'S NIGHTCLUB (1922-1984) hosted more iconic national performers than we can list, including [but not limited to] Ella Fitzgerald, Art Tatum, Nat King Cole, guitarist sideman Jimi Hendrix, Gypsy Rose Lee, the B 52s, Alex Chilton, and more.

Local fans know that McVAN'S served as an incubator for regional 'original' bands & players: Talas / Billy Sheehan, Robby Takac (Goo Goo Dolls), The Jumpers, The Enemies, Pauline & the Perils, Mark Freeland / Electroman, Pegasonics, Davy & the Crocketts, Third Floor Strangers, Buxx, Black Sheep (Lou Graham), The Toys, and 100+more.

THIS FUNDRAISER will help pay the costs [approx. $5,000 total] of the production & installation of the HISTORICAL MARKER, already approved by Buffalo City Hall, and placed at the corner of Niagara & Hertel, where McVAN'S used to stand.

BUFFALO MUSIC VAULT is a project of the IRS recognized non profit 'Power of Song, Inc.' linked here, recently celebrating helping raise $250,000 for 27 local charities serving Veterans & Military families.
