MCMSA Holiday Fundraiser: Homeward Bound needs
Tax deductible
The Mesa County Medical Society Alliance has been helping Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley for many years. Recently, we have painted the walls of their main facility, donated toilet paper and coffee to their new family shelter: Pathways, and, prior to Covid-19, we served dinner.
With the pandemic and the changes the community has to make to take care of the growing population of those who need extra help, the facility has been faced with new challenges. They have asked us to help them to collect funds over the holidays to transport pallets of food on and off their truck, and back and forth between the two locations.
Daryl, the culinary director for both facilities has made this request, and detailed their needs:
"We would like to acquire, with your donation, three hydraulic pallet jacks to provide help moving pallets of food across an array of agencies. The vision is to move into Phase 2 of a growing Hunger Alliance working with Western Colorado Community Foundation to assist the other food banks, shelters, and 501 c-3’s (in town) and Food Bank of the Rockies with Grocery and Meal Rescues."
"The value of these palette jacks will be appreciated by all involved for a very, very long time. As you may imagine, a number of employees (and volunteers from the Residents) are individuals between 50 and 70 years old; their hearts are willing but physical capability is lower. These will make the task much safer and less demanding for everyone."
If 100 of us donates just $30, we can make this happen for Homeward Bound and Pathways! Since we cannot meet for our annual Holiday party this year, let's use the normal $75/couple dinner fee to make a difference in the valley!
