Greetings community,

Hope all is well with you. My name is Ashley McIntosh and I am one of the family hurricane relief liaisons. Today we reach out with heavy yet hopeful hearts. In light of Hurricane Melissa’s catastrophic impact on Jamaica, the McIntosh, Atkinson, and Hamilton families in along with the expatriates of Eastern Westmoreland communities, are coming together to do what we can for the place that shaped us, raised us and still holds our roots.

Barneyside, Struie, Darliston and other communities in Westmoreland were completely torn apart in a matter of hours by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa. Homes, shops and livelihoods were reduced to rubble. Roads are destroyed, power and water is extremely scarce and families are left with only the clothes they left their houses in. Even more painful, this storm has taken the lives of some members of our community and injured others. The impassable debris has hindered proper medical attention and resources to these individuals.

As a family, both in Jamaica and abroad, we are completely devastated, but we believe in the power of community to help rebuild. We are believing with you in prayer for our people and appreciate your support of our fund.

Therefore all funds will be spent to purchase and support the purchase of the afore mentioned things. Money will be sent directly from here to Jamaica to purchase these things and/ or will be purchased here to be shipped.

The country of Jamaica and its people are very resilient and we will band together to make a full recovery, building back even better than before.
