My name is Erin. For the past (almost) year, my family and I have been struggling as my dad has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. At first, things were not so bad; we had enough money to be able to afford rent, food, etc. etc. But recently, since my dad isn't working because of said cancer, we have been struggling financially. Unemployment has run dry, food stamps are slow, and all of our bills are coming at once. My dad was the one who has handled anything money-related for as long as I can remember, but now the cancer is really getting to him. He can't move out of bed, he's getting weaker, experiencing hallucinations, not making any sense when he speaks, along with him getting constant infections. This has resulted in us running so low on money that we can barely afford to put food on the table or necessities for our family. My family doesn't have enough money to our name to afford rent, and with other factors such as my mom not being qualified for money from the government for disability and the deteriorating mental and physical health in my family, it has caused heaps of stress for us.
