After going back and forth I have landed at this. Putting our business, our life, and our hearts out there. Everyone knows the saying first comes love then come marriage and then comes a baby in a baby carriage. If only it was that simple. My husband and I have been married for almost 8 years and of those almost 8 years we have been trying to get pregnant for 7 of them. When Darian and I decided to have a baby this was definitely not the journey we had intended. I thought for sure it would happen right away and was very disappointed to find out that it was not that easy. After trying for almost a year we decided to go to the doctor. Our doctor told us that there was nothing she could do until we had been trying for a consistent year and since my husband had been deployed once during our year of trying she sent us on our way assuming that it was nothing. For the next two years there were several deployments and no baby. Four years in we finally received a referral to go to a fertility specialist. Yay! After all this time it was finally happening. The fertility specialist is where you go to get a baby easy as that. The first step was to have an ink test. This is where they inject ink into your fallopian tubes to make sure everything is flowing through correctly. I was devastated to find out that one of my tubes is blocked. Scared and nervous I returned to my fertility specialist. My doctor had no concerns. He looked me in the eyes and said you will be pregnant in 6 months. He put me on clomiphene and sent my home to get pregnant. 6 months went by and still no baby. At this time, I had a brief bump in the road with my education that forced us to put our dreams of having a baby on hold for a whole year. I hoped every day that during this time I would get pregnant naturally. This however was not the case. By the time I was able to go back to the fertility doctor it had been almost 7 years since we had been trying. We were back on track and headed to a new fertility doctor. I was so full of joy and hope. I just knew this time it would be different. After a few routine test and visits, my doctor decided to do a surgical procedure. She would make an incision in my belly button and go in with a camera and see what was going on once and for all. When I meet with my doctor for a follow up my husband and I were devastated to find out that she had to remove one of my tubes. The other tube was completely blocked by scar tissue from a surgery I had as a child to remove my colon at age 12 because I was diagnosed with Crohns disease. My Crohns got progressively worse after my diagnosis. I felt like I could hardly breath my doctor was very sympathetic and informed us we could still have a baby, we would just have to do in vitro fertilization. This is where doctors take out the male’s sperm and a woman’s egg and put them together and put them back into the woman’s uterus. Obviously that’s a non-scientific explanation. This sounds very simple, but it’s a lot of shots, test, and so much more. Our doctor has told us the cost is $16,000 none of this is covered by Tricare and will be all out of pocket. We are hoping to do IVF this summer, but that will greatly depend on how much we raise and how fast we can. I cannot put into words how grateful we will be for any donations for any amount. We are also raising money by opening an etsy account please feel free to check out that sight as well at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ Twodapperdogs. Again thank you for listening to our story and for any donations made. It will truly make a difference in our lives.
