We always see on the news families getting ripped apart from each other due to their immigrational status. ICE detains parents and children & separates families with the goal of getting rid of all immigrants from their country. We’ve always been a cautious family & always prayed that this would never happen to us. Being an immigrant in this country is a shadow that follows you everywhere you go.
Dear Family & Friends,
It is difficult to put something like this out there and asking for help is really hard but I'm in a position where I have no choice. My father, Gilberto Mayorga was taken into ICE custody on Thursday, June 20th on his way to work. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego. My dad came to United States at a very young age to build a better life for himself. His mother died when he was 2 and he never had a relationship with his dad. For the past 25 plus years he has lived in the United States & has raised 5 US-born children. The oldest is 23 and the youngest is 15. He has been married to my mom for more than 20 years and has made this place a home for our family. Those who know him know him as a hardworking man who would do anything for the people he loves. He has been a great example of what a brave and courageous man is, even with the obstacles he faced every day. The only crime he has committed is reentering the United States to financially support our family. He has never done any harm to the community, he has actually helped better it. Since 1996, he has been attending the ministry of Victory Outreach & has raised all of us to have strong faith in God regardless of the circumstances. He sings in the choir and pours his whole heart into doing the things of God. He has always provided us with everything we’ve needed and now it’s time that we help him. In order to move forward with confidence that my dad will have the best representation we realize we need to hire an immigration lawyer to help us navigate through this rigorous system that our government has set up. We are asking for help to financially secure a great lawyer so my dad has a chance to fight. It is unfair for ICE authorities to separate us by a wall and being undocumented should not be a crime. Any donations are gladly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
