Hi, my name is Maya, and I’m part of Team Gambia at Solihull Sixth Form College.

Team Gambia is a life-changing project where students travel to Gambia to support a nursery there (Abuko Nursery and Lower Basic School, near Serrakunda).

During our time there, we not only teach and spend time with the children, but we also help to improve the school’s facilities — projects in recent years have included building a library and repairing the water pump after a storm.

We also bring essential resources such as school books and stationery, which directly support the children’s education. This project isn’t just about helping; it’s about creating lasting change and giving these children a fairer chance at a brighter future.

To raise funds, I’ll be taking on a one-hour sponsored swim, with every pound raised going directly towards developing the school and providing vital resources for the children.
