Mayan's Campaign for Black Lives Matter Foundation
Every year, I run a half marathon to bring attention to an organization that is near and dear to my heart, NYRR’s Team For Kids, and help fundraise so that they can continue to provide the services they do to inner-city children. The events and racism against black Americans over the past month have broken my heart, filled me with anger, and left me wondering what I could do to help.
My privilege as a white woman has allowed me to push these issues to the back of my mind, but for black people this has been their reality for hundreds of years. Enough is enough.
I will no longer be silent about the racism that people of color face in this country every single day. This year, instead of running a half marathon for TFK, I will be running virtually for the black community and raising money for Black Lives Matter. At the end of the month, I will run 13.1 miles for my brothers and sister who fear for their lives every day. White people, we have been silent for too long. It is time to use our voices for something bigger than ourselves. There is no wrong way to help. Please consider making a donation, any amount helps. If you are unable to donate, please reach out to me for other ways that you can help fight this fight
