Hi, my name is Maya-Jacqueline and I am 16 years old.

This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Malaysia, Borneo with Camp International, where I’ll be volunteering for four weeks from 14th July to 18th August 2026.

During my time there, I’ll be working on projects that support rural communities, including helping to build schools and community facilities, improving sanitation, and taking part in environmental and animal conservation work. I’ll also be involved in projects supporting orangutan conservation, which is something I’m really passionate about.

This experience means a lot to me because I want to do something meaningful and give back. There is a lot of inequality in the world, and being able to directly support communities and make even a small difference is something I truly care about. I have always tried to help in any way I can, and this opportunity allows me to do that on a much bigger scale.

I also hope this experience will help me grow as a person, and that I will return as a more confident and well-rounded individual who has learned valuable lessons and can bring them back to my own community.

The Total cost of this trip along with the vaccinations is £5800 including accommodation, travel. So far, I’ve raised £1400 through my own fundraising, working, selling items, but I still have a long way to go.
