There was a family left behind On Saturday, July 16 2016 when Max lost his lifelong battle with addiction. Our son lost his father, I lost my friend of 20 years and the opportunity to see Max become the father he vowed he would be.

Ultimately Max chose a public persona over fatherhood and the unique circumstances surrounding his life, death, and after death continue to be a topic on social media. The explicit and traumatic descriptions of his passing in headlines for clickbait are forever etched into the internet. There are real people who knew and loved Max in his real personal life who fought and risked irreplaceable years hoping to see him achieve sobriety. The highly personal and disturbing details of his passing are available for public consumption and discussion and something I could not protect our son from forever. Despite public opinion, the truth is we have paid a debt we did not owe. As the 10 years anniversary of his passing approaches, I ask for the kindness of strangers to provide what I cannot for our son.

Donations will secure food, housing, and reliable transportation to help our son on his journey into adulthood. Donations will be spent on a reliable first car, a bank account with a small first deposit as required, rent, and groceries for his first apartment.
