For the past 50 years, the name Max Spilsbury has become synonymous with “Coach” to people from the Colonies and graduates from the JSA. Coach Spilsbury was a man who dedicated his time, his heart and his energy to both the students and football players at the JSA. This coming football season marks the 50th year anniversary of the first ever JSA football team. We would like to honor the memory of Coach Spilsbury and the program he developed by dedicating the field to him.
The funds raised will be used to purchase a bronze plaque that will include a photo of Coach Spilsbury and a summary of his coaching career, and a large cast iron archway that will go over the main entrance to the football field with “Max R. Spilsbury Field” on it. Any additional funds raised above and beyond the costs to import and build the proper structures for both plaque and archway will be donated to buying equipment for the current football team.
