Hi people, I have decided to run in the Manchester marathon in April 2026 this will be my first full marathon and I will be raising funds for Forest Holme Hospice in Poole, which cares for people fac-ing a life limiting or terminal illness as well as providing support and counselling for families.

In 2018, my sister Rebecca, aged 37, fit/ healthy and happily married and with two small children, starting having back pain. After a number of weeks of pain and several visits to her doctor (who diag-nosed a pulled muscle) Rebecca was admitted to hospital by ambulance on June 17th. Various tests and scans were performed over the next few days. Finally, Rebecca was diagnosed with bile duct cancer and was told it was terminal. An emergency operation followed to insert 4 stents in her liver. After a month in hospital and a general deterioration of her health,
Rebecca was transferred to Forest Holme Hospice. It was here she spent the last month of her life. Gone was the hustle and bustle of a busy hospital ward to a calm and relaxing oasis of space where she could find comfort and escape from reality with her family and friends. The palliative care nurses were absolutely amazing in their care of Rebecca and with the whole family during this time. Nothing was too much trouble. Family and friends were also welcomed and were able to support her 24/7. Sadly, all too soon, Rebecca died on August 6th.

Forest Holme support did not end there and Later that year my younger sister (Esther Hubble) was struggling with her grief and counselling was provided by Forest Holme. ( which she has now become a grief counsellor herself) As a family we have supported Forest Holme on a number of occasions since then, and I felt this time, I wanted to challenge myself in my sisters memory and in so supporting and raising funds so other families can be helped by this very essential and worthy charity

I will be starting my training in the coming months, and really hoping it all goes well…but knowing it will be all worth it for such a great charity and one close to my heart.

Thankyou for any support will be much appreciated as I know times are hard.

I will keep you all updated on my journey

thankyou in advance and don’t be tight
