Society of SVDP-Eagle Scout Wooden Bin Project

I am Matthew Godinich (Rice University Shirt), a soon to be Eagle Scout in Troop 46 in the Sam Houston Area Council. For my Eagle project I will build and assemble 20 wooden 4 by 4 feet bins that hold food and donations for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul Food distribution site. This will service the Society's Resale Shop and Food Fairs, where many less fortunate neighbors get food and clothes.  I am looking to fund the costs for plywood and construction materials to build them. The Society hosts three community food fairs per month. They partner with the Houston Food Bank and purchase food in bulk, organize food drives, and collaborate with other food vendors to provide nutritious food for those who need it most. In 2018, they distributed over $6 million dollars’ worth of food assistance to residents of the Galveston-Houston area. These bins would help carry and store their goods to help them focus on helping the community after many lost their jobs during the pandemic. I was inspired to choose this project when Alex Bregman promoted this charity's work.  I was volunteering one Saturday, and he surprised everybody by deciding to help out. The Society needs more help than ever considering more neighbors are needing their services given the tough time we are in. Any donation helps and every penny counts. Any excess funds will go to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. Thank you.
