Matteo's Autism Journey

I am writing to share our family's journey with you and to ask for your support as we fight for our son Matteo, who is diagnosed Global Developmental Delay and Autism Level 3.

Matteo, our beautiful 4-year-old, is the joy of our lives. Over the past two years, we have been advocating for the ongoing therapy that he deserves to live a fulfilling life. Despite providing the NDIS with all necessary evidence and following every requirement, we faced setbacks in our request to secure his support infact they cut back his funding significantly. We appealed to the tribunal with extensive medical documentation and the backing of his treating doctors, but unfortunately, we lost once again to the NDIS system that is broken.

Now, we have the opportunity to take our case to federal court, hoping to present our plea before a judge who can right this situation for our little boy, and all other families fighting the system for what's right. It has been a challenging 2 years. Matteo has been undergoing intensive one-on-one therapy to address his communication challenges, eating habits, and toileting needs. Although he has made significant gains, he still has a considerable way to go.

The therapy is crucial for his development, but we are currently facing financial difficulties. It is essential for us to continue this intensive therapy for him to reach his full potential. Additionally, we are also in need of financial help to cover the legal fees related to his care that we have incurred.

We have made ongoing efforts to raise awareness about autism and its financial implications for families like ours. It is important to shed light on the challenges that come with supporting loved ones on the spectrum, not just for Matteo, but for many families facing similar situations.

Our goal is to not only seek the necessary support for our family but also to set a standard in federal court that can help others. By bringing attention to these issues, we hope to encourage discussions that lead to positive outcomes and increased resources for those affected.

Since the day we learned of his diagnosis, we vowed to do everything in our power to help him and advocate for the necessary assistance he needs.

Asking for help has been a difficult step for us and still is, as we have always managed on our own. However, we now find ourselves needing financial support to take this crucial step in the legal process and pay for therapy. We truly believe that Matteo deserves the help he needs to thrive, and we are praying for a favourable decision that he should have received from the beginning. We are hoping to make a difference to the system which we hope will work beyond matteos case.

Matteo lights up every room he enters with his sweet, affectionate nature. He has taught us that love doesn't always need words. We would be immensely grateful for any assistance you can provide to help us secure the necessary funds for this legal battle.
