To raise funds for Matt after his spinal cord injury

Hey everyone, my name is Charles!

In August last year, my best friend Matt was diagnosed with a rare condition in his back called AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation). It’s a serious issue where a vein wasn’t pumping blood properly, which led to a mass forming on his spine.

Matt underwent surgery, and while we were all hopeful for a full recovery—and still are—things didn’t go as planned. The operation has left him in a wheelchair, currently unable to stand, walk, or return to work. It’s been a life-changing challenge, but through it all, Matt has shown nothing but courage and incredible strength

That’s why I’m running this marathon—to raise funds and support for Matt during this challenging time. Every mile I run is for him, and every donation helps provide the care and resources he truly deserves.

I’ll be running from Matt’s last flat in Crystal Palace all the way to our old house in Wood Green—26.6 miles on August 10th. It’s a full circle journey, from where he lived most recently back to the place where we first met and became best friends almost instantly, bonding over our love of football and hip hop.
