Hello, my name is Chris McKenzie. My family and I are raising funds to help Matt Donald, my wife Deena's brother, pay for his medical expenses and long-term care and recovery after being brutally attacked at the Roswell Area Park, Roswell, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. I am withdrawing the funds into a personal Wells Fargo bank account and will hand-deliver a certified cashier's check to Matt Donald.

After putting his 7-month-old baby to bed with his wife, Matt went out for a walk around 8:30 PM. He was brutally attacked and left for dead. Luckily, somebody saw him and called 911. Matt was put on a ventilator for a week in the ICU and is now recovering from a brain injury. He has started recovery therapies in the hospital and is making progress every day.

Matt is struggling with memory loss and must now learn how to walk, talk and do everything again. His road to recovery will be long, but he is crushing his PT, OT and ST in his usual overachieving way. His personality and sense of humor are still there, and he has been making non-stop jokes. Despite the long road ahead of him, I know my brother will attack recovery the way he attacks life.

We still do not know who did this to him or why he was the target of such a horrendous act, but the Roswell PD has been extremely supportive and is taking this very seriously. They are doing everything they can to solve this as fast as they can. It’s amazing how much our community has come together to try and help figure out what happened.

We are overwhelmed by the love, support and well wishes from our family, friends, and the entire community. We can’t wait to tell him about all the kind messages and gestures we have received from EVERYONE, including people we have never even met. It truly is amazing.

Thank you to those that have reached out and shown our family so much love and support during this time. The amazing group of wonderful and kind people that surround my brother is a testament to what an incredible person he is. We are eager to be able to share with him all the love he has been shown.
