Matt and Alissa Roskind's Adoption!!
Hey there! We’re the Roskind’s, and we want to tell you our story! I’m Matt, and I’m married to my beautiful wife, Alissa! She and I have been married for close to three years, and we enjoy beating each other in board games (she is ruthless and not fun to play Monopoly with), playing pickleball (I know...we’re getting old), and hanging out with our puppy, Fendley. RiverStone Church has been our home for nearly two years, and it’s where I work as the Youth Pastor and Alissa works as the Director of Operations. Basically, I run around the church while Alissa helps to run it.
Let’s address the elephant in the room...we’ve never tried to have kids of our own. When we first started talking about marriage we both knew we wanted kids. Alissa has a beautiful heart and had always wanted to be a mom, but her desire had always been for biological children. As she grew in her faith and started to feel a deep conviction for the Pro-Life movement, God began to soften her heart towards adoption–something she thought she would never have any desire for. Soon, Alissa’s attitude towards adopting was radically transformed to the point she approached me about it.
When I approached Matt, he had a beautiful heart posture about adopting. We began the adoption process before coming on staff at RiverStone, then felt like God told us that the Youth would be our children for a while. We then felt the call to begin the process again, and we obediently jumped in head first. This process has come with some roadblocks; we are realizing that we can’t do this alone, and we need your help!
We’re home study approved, our nursery is already set up, and we even have a car seat! We're incredibly eager to start our family; we feel like this opportunity will be blessed by God by taking us deeper into our walk with Him. We’re hoping to adopt a healthy baby boy or baby girl. We have absolutely no preference on race or ethnicity; Alissa and I just want to give a loving home to a wonderful little boy or girl who may not otherwise have that opportunity. Because of that, we’re completely open to a private adoption, which would cut down on our expenses tremendously. While we believe if that is God’s plan for us it will come to fruition, we’re also open to adopting through an agency.
What we realized very quickly into the adoption process is that it is extremely expensive–which breaks our heart. Most adoptions through an agency cost roughly $30,000 - $40,000. Your donation will go towards all of our adoption costs - everything from lawyer fees, agency expenses, potential travel expenses, and anything else that goes into the mix! Would you please prayerfully consider supporting us on a mission that God has placed on our marriage?
Thank you for helping us grow our family!
