Hi! My name is Matt Ackerman and I’m a Life Scout in Troop 273 and a Senior at Westfield High School. I’m currently working on my Eagle Scout Project in order to obtain my Eagle Scout rank! This GoFundMe has been created in order to raise funds for my Eagle Scout Project. As a Scout, it is impossible for me to fund this project on my own so I really need your help!

My project is to construct rolling shelving units for the Westfield High School Marching Band. Currently, the band has very limited storage space for equipment. Also, when transporting our instruments in trucks for competitions, we have no way of making use of the vertical space of the truck. Instead, the instruments are just spread out on the floor and shift quite a bit in transit - not ideal for expensive equipment!  My project will remedy these issues. The  band will be able to roll the shelving units, full of instruments, in and out of the storage shed and in and out of the trucks.

The plan is to have 6 shelving units storing around 50 large instruments. Along with that, I will be constructing a small folding ramp from a kit. This ramp will be movable, stored in the shed along with the shelving units, and brought in the truck to get the shelving units over curbs and other obstacles.

 As Eagle Projects go, this is definitely on the larger side. An immense amount of planning has gone into this project and I am very happy with the designs that have been made. I can't wait to start building! But first, I need to collect  the necessary materials. Since there’s only so much that I can get generously donated from businesses, it’s unlikely I’ll be able to source all of the materials in that way. This is where I hope you can help. I understand at this time, things are hard for a lot of people, so anything you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated!
