Matooka & Wren need to move!
Donation protected
Just shy of a month ago, I received the below email from a dear Sister, Matooka (and her husband and partner, Wren). I was touched and moved because of the courage it took for her to hit send on the email. I have never known Matooka to ask for help; she endures and compensates and looks for ways to shift... and for those reasons, if she was reaching out for help, I knew it must be a dire time.
Indeed, when I spoke with Matooka, she shared how difficult their situation is. They're living in an environment that is challenging and they must leave. Almost immediately. When I asked specifically about what she needs (in my mind, I was asking about money), she said, "I just need to be able to feel safe in my home. And it would be nice if my body didn't hurt so much."
While they are able to pay their bills, they have limited income and do not have the extra resources needed to actually move to a different residence (first and last month's rent, security deposit, pet deposit, turn on utilities, storage space for a full household of stuff while searching for a place to live, taking time off work to move, renting a moving truck). I know this is not an uncommon predicament... but this is one that I actually know about and can take a step to help.
My heart has been touched by both Matooka and Wren -from their unconventional story of love and partnership to their continual presence of sweetness and strength and growth and gratitude that they bring with them everywhere.
In thinking about these lovely humans, I felt compelled to offer support. And while I can send some financial assistance and loads of love and prayers, I can also step out of my comfort zone (like Matooka did) to ask for support on her behalf (she shyly accepted my offer to do this).
So here I am, asking you to think about situations like these... about how hard it can be to move and how even just a few extra dollars can help ease the financial stress.
This is a humble request for you to consider sending a contribution to Matooka and Wren. Any amount will help!
with gratitude,
Gretchen
"Calling Out for Support!
Friends, all: I am calling out for the support of my community, of my tribe.
If you know me, you know that I am in service to the hearts, souls and spirits of all who need the strength I supply.
And now I need the support of my community and tribe.
Wren and I must find a new home immediately and we need a lot of support to make this happen.
We need a new place to live within a 45 mile radius of Salem, NH.
We need a place that will take our dog, cat & serpent.
We need a place near nature for the care of our spirits.
We need help packing.
We need a truck(s) to move our stuff.
We need money to make all this happen.
We need love and we need action. If Wren and/or I have ever touched your hearts, we are asking for your support. This is our call in our time of need."
