Matlock Community Land Trust

We are local people who have created a community benefit society. We need a small revenue stream to keep us afloat, we need to pay for ongoing expenses such as insurance, membership of organisations, meetings, training events and so on.

We want to obtain the Cavendish Road car park and playing field from Derbyshire County Council and develop both areas of land for the benefit of Matlock people rather than it being used to build over 30 houses by a housing developer. By doing this we would safeguard the land which would be held in trust for the local community in perpetuity.

We want to maintain a safe car parking area and create some much needed allotments, raised beds and around 9 social housing units. The development would also contain fruit trees, a pond and nature trails and walks. It would be of an enormous benefit for the local community.

To do this we need to raise seriously large amounts of money. We hope to do this through bidding for public money, charitable foundations, community share options, etc.
