Thank you for kindly choosing to donate to charity as a wedding gift. All the donated funds will be split between the following four charities.
CASA DO GAIATO SETÚBAL
The Obra da Rua, or Work of Father Américo, more commonly known as Casa do Gaiato, is a charitable institution of the Catholic Church, recognized as a Private Institution of Social Solidarity. It was founded in 1940 by Father Américo Monteiro de Aguiar with the aim of sheltering, educating, and integrating into society children and young people who, for any reason, found themselves deprived of a normal family environment.
Matilde’s grandmother worked extremely closely with Casa do Gaiato of Setúbal, founded in 1955, and Matilde’s mother has since continued this work, making this organisation extremely important to the family.
WORLD FOOD PROGRAM
The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity, for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
Both Matilde’s mother and father have been World Food Program Ambassadors for over 10 years, working especially closely with the children programs, highlighting the organisation’s significance to the family.
KETIMBANG NGEMIS KUDUS
Ketimbang Ngemis Kudus, translated to Rather Than Begging, established in 2016, is a community dedicated to helping the elderly, orphans, and the underprivileged in Indonesia. Every month, they provide assistance to around 20 elderly individuals after surveying their living conditions and employment. They also offer shelter to orphans without a place to stay and ensure their education with the help of donors. Education is the key to a better future for these children.
Being of Indonesian heritage, Daniel’s mother felt deeply connected to this charity, and has been involved since its establishment in 2016.
PLAN INTERNATIONAL UK
Plan International is a global children’s charity striving for a fairer world. One where every child can reach their full potential and every girl can choose her own future. Bringing people together to protect children’s rights and keep girls safe, in school and in control of their bodies – even when disaster strikes.
Matilde has been working with Plan International UK since the launch of Matilde Jewellery in 2020, by creating exclusive International Women’s Day pieces from which proceeds are donated to Plan International.
