First, we are very grateful that you are here in this space to read our story.
I'm Anthar Kharana, the director and founder of the Ancestral School in Colombia (Escuela Ancestral) and together with my dear friend Kim McFadden co-founder of wild Roots Nature Connection Community in England, we would like to share with you a project that with your help and support, will give us the resources to complete and manifest the vision.
Together with Kim, we have produced different events in the UK; four years ago, we also created the Ancestral Pathways School, which runs various retreats, workshops and traditional ceremonies throughout the year. A few years ago, we started a six weekend online course called Ancestral Pathways and the Plant Kingdom as a way to continue our mission regardless of the impossibility of gathering physically. This was the beginning of Plantas Maestras, a way to seed plant knowledge and connection with the plant kingdom into the future.
One of the most important roots in all the teachings is the relationship and connection to the Plant Kingdom. Plants and our relationship with them can activate an essential source of wisdom, connecting us with our ancient ancestral ways and empowering us to understand our purpose, bringing healing and orientation to our current landscapes.
To continue spreading our work, we are asking for your support to help us fund our project, which we believe is highly valuable to the current changing generations. The project is called “Plantas Maestras” (Master Plants)
WHAT IS THE VISION FOR PLANTAS MAESTRAS?
PLANTAS MAESTRAS (Master Plants) has been envisioned as an offering to our human family in the form of a series of documentaries that are FREE to watch, sharing important teachings of the Plant Kingdom. We managed to create the FIRST SEASON with the fantastic contribution of a highly professional team who decided to donate their skills and time to make this possible. We need your help to produce the Second Season so we can offer more important wisdom as a legacy for the current and future generations.
These videos are high-quality interviews recorded onsite in specific locations with many wise Elders from around the world and professionals in the field. The material has subtitles according to the primary language spoken during the video, which will be either Spanish or English.
The First Season was shared via Facebook and Youtube; we also created short snippets of 1 to 3 minutes maximum from the lengthy interview to spread the word over the social networks.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT FOR THESE TIMES?
We live in a time where we are experiencing and feeling the effects of civilization and the convenience culture. In some ways, our modern times have brought much to us as humans and yet simultaneously degraded the threads of relationship with our natural world through that convenience. Coming back into connection is essential to the well-being of life here with earth; the plant kingdom is one pathway into that connection.
We have also recently experienced a historic time of change, and many are still struggling to conceive a sense of connection. During those changes and times of isolation, a great sense of separation was born. With the help of the plants and their wisdom, we can help shine a light on the path towards inner reconciliation and connection. We want these videos to be shared to support that journey and for the future generations.
Nowadays, many people associate the term Master Plants with certain sacred plants used in particular indigenous ceremonies, leaving many other vital plants unacknowledged. We want to plant a seed in the hearts of the audience, a seed of passion for the wisdom gifted from a diversity of plants, including the ones you might use daily as tea. Bringing common and perhaps overlooked plants into significance so that we can create a close relationship with them and hopefully to learn a new language to communicate more intimately with the whole of our nature.
WHEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO WATCH?
We have started all the preproduction and some interviews are already in the upcoming schedule. This will be an ongoing production over the next months, but we will aim to launch the first video of the series by the beginning of January 2023. The interviews will be streamed every month and will stay uploaded on social networks so that people can re-watch and share. As part of these videos, we will create events related to the topic so the audience can deepen the wisdom.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO KICK START OUR SECOND SEASON?
We want to continue with our production and create another season of material which will cover a total of three months of material.
The funds will be used to pay all the crew and everybody involved in the production as well as some extra equipment that we need. We are very aware that a production like this would cost a lot more than that, as it involves, director, producer, camera operators, editors, translators, hosts, designers, original music, community managers, general production and guests. Hence, we are all putting much of our hearts into this project and are willing to donate a considerable amount of our own time to make the project succeed….Your help will be greatly appreciated.
