Mason’s Fight & Road To Recovery

My name is Aubrey Neuhaus, my mother is Melissa Neuhaus. On July 23rd, 2024 my brother Mason was hit by a truck on his bicycle and taken to the hospital. He was transferred from Finley hospital in dubuque to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Iowa City. Mason suffered skull fractures, bleeding of the brain and some fractures in his face. Currently he is in a medically induced coma at just 9 years old and on a ventilator to stabilize his breathing. The doctors put a bolt in his head to monitor pressure and swelling of the brain. We are unsure when he will be able to wake up or come out of his coma. He has his 10th birthday coming up August 21st. Anything donated will go towards making his birthday extra special if he misses it, gas for transportation back and forth to home in dubuque, bills for my mother as she is unable to work at this time, food, lodging, and anything left over will go towards medical bills if insurance doesn’t come through.
