From the Project Pearls Website:
“The coronavirus crisis and the community quarantines in the Philippines force children and families in our communities to starve. The pandemic has resulted in a severe economic and social crisis. The lockdowns and work closures have left thousands of our fellow Filipinos jobless. Most of them work in the informal sector as drivers, garbage scavengers, vendors, construction workers, and other daily-wage earners. The heartbreaking reality is that staying home for them means losing a day of work and losing meals for their families.
To ease this burden for the families and to ensure that children have at least one healthy meal in a day, we launched the Covid-19 Hunger Relief Program in three communities.”
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Project Pearls helps ensure that children in the communities of Tondo, Bulacan, and Cavite are fed a healthy meal to start off their day.
Their budget to support breakfast for the children are as follows
Php 15,000 (~$310) for 500 children (Tondo and Bulacan)
Php 10,000 (~$207) for 350 children (Cavite)
MaskON Project calls for your help to be able to support at least 500 children in one of these locations.
