Our Mission Statement
Mask Bloc TO is an autonomous collective led by a group of disabled individuals from across Tkaronto and the GTA, which was formed for the purpose of organizing to provide masks and resources to people to combat COVID-19 and state abandonment. Our work is grounded in the principles of disability justice and achieved through mutual aid, accessible political education, and community outreach.
What is a Mask Bloc?
As defined by the How to Start a Mask Bloc zine which is a collaborative zine that was put together by a number of mask blocs in the U.S., a mask bloc is an autonomous local disability justice group that is designed to provide high quality, high filtration (Hi-Fi) masks to people that need them for free. Additionally, it can also be a source of other tools and information on COVID-19, clean air and accessibility.
How Funds are Used
Every cent is used to purchase high quality, high filtration masks or personal protective equipment (PPE), such as rapid antigen tests (RATs), that will be distributed for free to the Tkaronto/GTA community.
Currently, we are fundraising specifically to purchase and distribute earloop KN95s or KF94s to diversify our mask supply.
