Hi, family and friends of Mary! I'm Barb, one of Mary's childhood friends. I have always admired Mary's positive energy and her incredible talent as an artist and educator. She and I go way back to Belleville, NJ, where we rode our bikes back and forth to one another's houses practically daily, took tennis lessons together, ran track and dreamed of the future.
Today, I still think of Mary every day, whenever I walk by her paintings that hang on the walls of my San Francisco home. She painted beautiful little canvases documenting several of the rooms in the house I previously lived in. These extraordinary pieces of art serve as both a tribute to that beloved home my husband and I shared and Mary's creativity and generosity. If you aren't familiar with Mary's work, here is a link to her website.
As you may know, Mary has not been able to paint or teach in some time due to medical issues. She has undergone multiple spinal surgeries and other medical procedures, which have impacted her ability to make art, enjoy her home and garden, and spend time with friends. These procedures have taken a toll on Mary, physically and mentally as well as financially, and she needs our help and support.
On top of this, Mary was hospitalized with Covid in April 2020, and her ability to heal and rebound has been especially challenged.

Mary would never ask for your help on her own, but I am hoping that we can pool our resources together and help finance her upcoming treatments that will not be covered by insurance. She has just embarked on a new treatment that will take four weeks and require hospitalization. The out-of-pocket costs are estimated to be thousands of dollars for the treatments alone.
