In May 2026, Michael will lace up his boots and walk the final stretch of the Camino Francés - 115km from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, finishing at the magnificent Praza do Obradoiro.
He's walking in memory of his beloved wife Mary, who passed away in December 2025 after her battle with cancer. Mary was supported by Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Care during her illness, and the kindness, dignity and compassion shown by both organisations made an enormous difference to her - and to our whole family - during the most difficult of times.
This walk is Michael's way of saying thank you. Over five days, he'll follow the ancient pilgrim path through the green hills and eucalyptus forests of Galicia, passing through villages that have welcomed pilgrims for over a thousand years. Every step he takes towards that cathedral will be a step taken in Mary's memory and in gratitude to the people who cared for her.
All donations will be split equally between Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Care - two charities that are there for patients and families when they need it most. If you've ever been touched by their work, or simply want to support a man walking 115km in honour of the woman he loved, please donate whatever you can.
Thank you, from Michael and all of our family.
Buen Camino.
