- Greetings from Jim Konold in Raleigh, NC. My sister Mary and her husband Jeff retired a few years ago to North Fort Myers, Florida, where they created a wonderful new life in a ranch-style house. This delightful dream was recently destroyed when Hurricane Ian sent a record-breaking storm surge that submerged their home and both of their cars in salt water and muck. They barely escaped and just made it to their neighbor's second floor in time to see the water rise on their own home to almost the roofline. The shock set in that all of their life's possessions were lost. They would now need to replace all of those things we daily take for granted. Upon reentering their house days later, the muck was everywhere, covering the once pristine white tile floors, and had destroyed their appliances. All of the upholstered furniture was sopping wet. Seeing the water damage everywhere was overwhelming.
Numerous friends and family members have asked how they can help, so I am asking for any contributions, large or small, in hopes of helping Mary and Jeff rebuild their lives. Insurance coverage will take time and will certainly not cover everything.
My sincere gratitude goes out to all who can help with a donation.
Gratefully yours,
Jim,
