Marvin Charles, Jr., is a single dad of 7 year old Chauncey and 6 year old Samaia. The children had been living with their mother until she died July 13, 2020 in a car accident. Marvin is eager to care for them as their father. To accomplish this, he has had to go to court in a custody case. The judge will make her final decision on custody in December. In addition to paying legal fees, the judge has also ordered that Marvin participate in re-integration therapy and make several trips to Denver (where the mother's family has Samaia and Chauncey) to re-integrate himself with the children. The legal fees will be at least $5,000, re-integration therapy will cost at minimum $3,000. There will also be travel, moving, clothing, and other costs as the children settle into their new home in Seattle. We believe having their father in their lives to raise them is vital to Samaia and Chauncey's growth and development. For Marvin, having the opportunity to be a protective and nurturing father for them is a powerful answer to his prayers.
