In 2020, our mom’s journey with cancer began, although at the time, she was sadly misdiagnosed. After months of uncertainty and investigations, we eventually received the devastating news that she had Stage 4 Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer).

Mom faced her diagnosis with incredible strength and courage. Over the years, she underwent multiple treatments, always hoping for more time and a chance to beat this cruel disease. Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, the treatments eventually stopped working.

As her condition worsened, palliative radiotherapy was no longer an option because she had become too unwell. Mom was admitted to Primrose Hospice for short-term palliative care, with the hope that she would be able to return home. Unfortunately, her illness progressed rapidly, and she became too poorly to leave.

On 1st June, our beautiful mom passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Her husband, Paul, and her two children, Joseph and Georgie, were by her side until her very last breath. Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she was never alone.

During the most difficult period of our lives, the team at the NHS Primrose Unit cared not only for Mom, but for all of us. The kindness, compassion, dignity, and support they showed every single day were truly extraordinary. They helped us navigate the unimaginable and brought comfort during moments of overwhelming sadness. We will never forget the incredible staff and the difference they made to our family.

Primrose Hospice relies heavily on donations to continue providing outstanding care to patients and families facing circumstances like ours. To say thank you and to honour Mom’s memory, we want to raise money to help purchase much-needed equipment and resources for the unit. Our hope is that these donations will help Primrose continue its amazing work, supporting future families and making the hardest moments in life just a little bit easier to bear.
