Recently Local 597 fitter Marty Weber discovered a lump under his tongue, he went to his docotor and his worst fears were confirmed.....his tongue cancer has returned. Marty was diagnosed with tongue cancer back in 2010 at the age of 30 and has had several surgeries to treat the cancer and reconstruct his tongue, with his last bout being 4 years ago. Unfortunately this time his cancer is agressive and has spread to his tongue jaw bone and lymph node. His surgery will be quite invasive with a long recovery period. His recovery includes removal of all his teeth on his lower right side, if the jaw bone is healthy enough he will have implants placed at the time of his surgery, reconstruction of his tongue again with a skin graph, radiation and will come home with a feeding tube. His dental will NOT be covered and he will be in recorery at least 6 months.

Marty is a great man with a big heart, he is also the families main source of income. We are asking anyone to PLEASE help his family out. Marty's loss of wages will greatly impact this wonderful family which includes his wife of 17 years, Valerie and his two children Ava (16) and Jake (14). If we all get together we can let Marty, Valerie, Ava and Jake concentrate on his recovering and not worry about the bills, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. Please help us help them, they deserve it and please SHARE this.
