Hello, I'm Hayley, one of five kids to my parents Donna and Troy.
Last night, I got the tragic call that my parents' home, me and my siblings' childhood home, was destroyed in the Victorian Longwood fire on January 9th 2026.
My parents moved into our quiet little bush property back in 2011 with the dream of living with the wildlife and being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Me and my siblings were just 9, 10 and 11, with my two other little sisters soon to come. My parents poured so much love and time into making it a home, walls, ceilings, plumbing, they left the city to build a life out there, that's now gone. Devastation doesn't even begin to cover the loss that we feel as a family.
They lost a entire garage full of tools, multiple cars, they lost appliances, cookware, furniture, but most harrowingly, so many memories and precious sentimental items.
Thankfully, my parents and little sisters (12+13) and pets evacuated on the Wednesday before the fire spread, and are safe. They unfortunately didn't take much with them, just some electronics and a spare pair of clothes and are now homeless. Any help will go directly to my family in the effort to find them emergency housing, and buying necessities to get them through this unthinkable time. They both are unable to work currently due to medical conditions, and need any help they can get. Any small amount will go so far in helping my parents get back on their feet and be able to look after my little sisters.
This is our worst nightmare, thank you to the people who have already sent such love and support our way. We are tired, grieving, and scared, but we are lucky to still have them here with us.
